Step into Kamalpur
Kamalpur is not defined by a single element, but by the coming together of land, water, structure, and time.
The estate is shaped as much by its surroundings as by its own cultivation. Forest land to the west enriches the soil and stabilises climate. A perennial river – the Hulia – runs through the garden, sustaining it quietly through the seasons. It also lends its name to Huliajhora, a brand rooted in the same source. Protected boundaries ensure long-term security, while proximity to Bagdogra allows seamless movement to markets.
Everything here from production and preservation, to access and seclusion exists in balance.
The Iron Cathedral
The Kamalpur factory began operations in the
mid-19th century when tea manufacturing was still developing across the region.
The original structure of the factory from the 1850s is still in use today. Over time, machinery has been updated, but the building itself continues to house production.
While earlier systems relied on a single motor and belt-driven mechanisms, today the factory runs modern CTC equipment designed for consistent output and grade control. This continuity reflects how Kamalpur has carefully evolved by adapting our infrastructure.

A Location Shaped by Four Boundaries
Kamalpur's geography is not incidental. Each boundary contributes something distinct to the quality of what grows here.

West & North-West
The Forest and Temple
Dense forest borders the estate to the west. Natural decomposition enriches the soil with organic humus. The canopy regulates humidity, maintaining the cool, moist microclimate that tea bushes require. To the northwest, the revered Junglee Baba Bholenath Temple stands as a longstanding cultural landmark and adds spiritual significance to the region.

North & East
The Army Cantonment
In 1971, 40 acres were ceded to the Indian Army. The cantonment that now borders the estate is a silent zone with no noise, no encroachment, no disruption. Our garden grows in quiet.

Through the Garden
River Hulia
A perennial river runs through the heart of the estate, providing year-round irrigation from a mineral rich natural source. The Hulia is also the namesake of Huliajhora, our bought-leaf brand, named in tribute to the water that has sustained this garden from the beginning.

South
Bagdogra
Ten minutes from Bagdogra airport and railway station. The estate is surrounded by nature on three sides and connected to the world on the fourth. Freshness does not have to fight distance here.
Shared with Nature
Kamalpur exists within an active ecosystem where elephants move through established corridors, birdlife fills the canopy, and occasional predator sightings reflect the depth of the surrounding forest.
The estate follows a simple principle: observe, do not interfere. With this approach, the land remains what it has always been, both cultivated and alive.
Every sighting is reported to the Forest Department, and workers are trained in coexistence rather than intervention.
