Origins to Ownership
Kamalpur was planted in the early 1850s by the Tehsildar of the Raja of Burdwan — making it one of the earliest Indian-founded tea estates in a largely colonial industry.
In 1968, the Agarwal family took custody, choosing to build on this foundation rather than alter it.

A Decision that Defined
the Estate
In the beginning of the 21st century, Kamalpur made a deliberate shift — moving away from dual production to specialise entirely in CTC teas. However, there have been instances where we have produced specialty orthodox teas during the lean winter seasons.
This focus allowed for refinement, consistency, and scale — eventually leading to recognition as one of the highest-yielding estate, despite being among the smallest in North India.

Today, the third generation continues this approach with a long-term view of balancing productivity with sustainability, and growth with restraint.
Minimal intervention, careful resource use,
and respect for the land guide every decision.
Three generations.
One estate.
